Nature School for homeschoolers
As part of SEEDS Environmental Education Program, we are offering our services to homeschooling families, so we are excited to offer all that we do with schools but without the limitations of schools and in a way that is always supportive and engaging.
By allowing children to explore the diverse natural environments of the Mornington Peninsula with knowledgable adults, we aim to build the value of our local environment amongst our students. This is central to developing an educational program that connects students’ learning to real world knowledge and outcomes.

Learning Focus - TERM 3
These fortnightly sessions will run in line with the school term, they can be attended regularly or intermittently if places are available. Parents are more than welcome to join the group for as long as they like.
Our focus for the two sessions occuring in term 3 is SPRING and growing vegetation seedlings. We will get in touch with the seasons and become keen observers of springs changes, we will all grow seedlings in our own "Little Greenie" greenhouse (each family will be supplied with a little greenie hothouse and seeds for the cost price of $10 - will will continue to use these - you can use your own if you have one) and tend our plot in the community garden. We will share and explore and observe together.

WHO, WHERE, WHEN, HOW MUCH.........
All primary aged children are welcome to come.
We are fortunate to have the opportunity to use a wonderful space - Mornington Peninsula Youth Enterprises Nursery - Russell Ardley who operates the community organisation has contributed greatly to the community and we have worked in partnership with him for over 8 years. Russell has allowed us to use his computer equipped classroom and minibus, all located on a wonder 2 acres of space, next to a community garden and parkland in central Mornington. All people that attend Russell facility (including ourselves) are required to have a Working with Children Check.

These will be fortnightly sessions on Wednesdays and as we are homeschoolers and know the benefits of working with small groups, sessions will be limited to 15 children. We have 2 starting times to cater for those travelling, our day will start at 9.30am for those that can make it for share time and enviromental games and then the sessions kick off at 10.30am to allow for those that travel to arrive. Day concludes at 3.00pm. The weekly cost of these sessions is $35/child which allows us to hire the space & bus, pay our teacher and supply materials for craft activities. As mentioned above given we have access to computers we would like to support those children who desire to in making websites of their adventures, or blogging or making short films and movies. And of course we will be encouraging nature journaling.
Send us an email if your interested.
